Question: I hear there are special hiking classes for all ages through the Parks & Recreation department. Can you tell me some of the popular programs?

Answer: The "Get Outdoors" promotion recently introduced "Mommy/Daddy & Me Nature Hikes" that teach children ages 3 to 5 and their parents how to enjoy and investigate the outdoors through a hike, crafts and hands-on activities.

The staff also conducted private clinics for the Boy and Girl Scouts that centered on a nature hike at Laguna Lake. The children attended fishing clinics to help the scouts earn their belt loops, patches and other awards.

Saturday hiking classes continue to be popular.
