Bring your bikes and hiking boots to Lake Earl this Sunday for a three-hour exploration around the West Coast's largest coastal lagoon outside of Alaska.
Participants can ride along a 4-mile gravel route that winds through shaded forests, grassy meadows and along the wetland edge of the lagoon. Two short hikes will also be included. Participants can learn about the history and ecology of Lake Earl, and look for plants and animals along the way.
Meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Earl Wildlife Area headquarters, 2591 Old Mill Rd. (off of Northcrest Drive) in Crescent City. Wear appropriate clothing, and bring water and insect repellent.
