Crews rescuing man injured hiking Piestewa Peak
By AZ Central.com

Phoenix Fire crews were working to rescue an injured man who fell while hiking Piestewa Peak on Wednesday afternoon.

The man was halfway up the main trail of the mountain when he fell, Phoenix Fire spokesman Mark Faulkner said.

The Fire Department was notified at about 2 p.m. and sent out a team that specializes in mountain rescue, he said.

Rescue crews transported the man using what they call a "big wheel," a wheelbarrow-type device that can be easily maneuvered down the mountain, Faulkner said.

He did not know the extent of the man's injuries.
