Enjoy National Trails Day by hiking area pathways
By Rochester Democrat and Chronicle

San Antonio has its Riverwalk but Rochester has its Riverway.

The Genesee Riverway Trail is a real walk by a real river that flows north over three waterfalls on its way to Lake Ontario. The roughly 15-mile trail passes through or near 11 parks, four cemeteries, 10 historic districts and seven points of interest.

Saturday is National Trails Day and a good place to celebrate would be Trail Junction, a point near the I-390 overpass at Scottsville Road.

Here, the Riverway, Genesee Valley Greenway and Canalway trails all meet. Take your pick: north, south, east or west.

Dozens of other trails are maintained by volunteers in communities around the region.
