Hiking for Leukemia & Lymphoma
By WEYI NBC25

Mike & Sharon Manchester are currently training to participate in Hike for Discovery; a hike in the Great Smokey National Park in September 2008 to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Lapeer County residents will be hiking for third consecutive year.

As volunteers in the Hike for Discovery program Mike & Sharon are committed to raise at least $9,300 to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in its mission to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and Myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Mike Manchester, 50, was inspired to become a Hike for Discovery Volunteer after his wife, Sharon, was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in 2005. Mike participated in the 2006 & 2007 hikes at the Grand Canyon & Yosemite raising over $8,000 each year.
