Hiking trails in the Three Valleys improved

With the summer season now in full swing, the communes of the Allues Valley have united to create and improve signalisation on many tourist hiking routes in the area.

There are now over 30 hiking routes featured in the walking guide from the Tourist Offices. A lot of work has recently gone in to cleaning up, laying out and classifying these walking routes. There are now two types of path classification : those which are part of the Grand Tour de la Tarentaise and those which are part of the local plan of walking and hiking itineraries (PDIPR).

The Grand Tour de La Tarentaise is a circuit with 24 stages which was created and looked after by the Tarentaise and Vanoise assembly. The tour links Courchevel to Belleville passing by refuges and the Plan de Tueda nature reserve to link up to Cote Brune. The itinerary has been passed and signalisation has been completed.

As for the departmental walking paths, five routes have been put forward for inclusion including the Sentier di Doron des Allues to rejoin Meribel Mottaret and Brides les Bains passing by old woodyards and mills to name but one.

With more and more hiking and walking trails being officially recognised and supported, it is hoped the initiative will please mountain walkers this summer.
