A 50-year-old Pennsylvania man died yesterday while on a hiking trip with a Boy Scout troop in Harriman State Park , Woodbury fire officials say.
Fire Chief Donnie Prozzillo said the call for help came in about 4:30 p.m. The caller reported that the man had suffered a heart attack. It took emergency crews hours to locate the group, which was found about 9 miles in on a trail south of Twin Lakes, Prozzillo said.
Officials have not yet released the man's name.
The recovery effort included firefighters from Woodbury, Monroe, Tuxedo, Cornwall and Salisbury Mills; state police from Haverstraw and Monroe and Palisades Park Police.
