SF transit officials considering hiking parking fees
By San Jose Mercury News,

The cost to park a car in San Francisco may be going up.
Because of a growing budget deficit at the Municipal Transportation Agency, officials are considering hiking the price of parking fines, parking meter rates and residential parking permits to try to close the gap.

Raising parking meter rates by 50 cents and hour and adding $10 to all parking fines that are now $90 or less are among the options being considered.

Though no formal recommendations have been made yet, the proposals will be presented to the Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors on Tuesday.

Tuesday's presentation begins the public discussion on how to balance the budget.

The board has scheduled another hearing for April 1, where specific recommendations are expected to be considered.
