CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio -- Authorities have identified a body found in a ravine Wednesday morning as a 37-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man who was reported missing by his family two days ago.

The man's body was found in a park near the Cuyahoga River, and authorities are trying to piece together what happened.

The victim's mother reported her son missing on Monday, and Wednesday morning, the victim's sister found her brother near Front Street, in the Gorge Metro Park.

The family believes the victim, whose name has not been released, slipped and fell while hiking.

"Preliminarily, we have no outward signs of foul play. It's the medical examiner's case and obviously they will do their investigation and we will do our investigation to see if there's anything. Currently there's no sign of foul play," said Lt. Mike Gay, of the Cuyahoga Falls police.

Using a basket, firefighters carefully recovered the body, hauling it 80 feet through rough terrain.

Cuyahoga Falls Fire Capt. George Sewald said hiking in the park can be dangerous, especially this time of year.

"First off, to be down there is dangerous and wandering anywhere off the designated trails with ice and snow conditions, don't even consider it because you'll last just seconds in the ice cold water, so you can have some major, major problems," Sewald said.

Sewald said about a month ago a woman who was hiking in the same area was seriously injured when she fell about 30 feet.
