Taxi associations in Kelantan Tuesday denied having increased their taxi fares following the hike in oil prices.
Deputy president of the Kelantan Taxi Drivers Welfare Association, Ismail Abdullah, said if there was a hike in the fares, it was by the individual taxi owners.
"I'm disappointed that the individual owners have increased the taxi fares by RM2 to RM5 to several destinations in the state.
"Their action not only burdened the consumers, but also affected the association's image," he added.
He said the association's 300 members had agreed not to increase the taxi fare despite the hike in oil prices.
"Passengers can view the fare on the list which is displayed at the notice board at the taxi station. If there are taxi drivers who charge them more, they (passengers) can lodge a report with the association," he added.
